Report Claims Ashley Kirilow Cancer Hoax - $20K in Donations Disney Trip

A report claims Ashley Kirilow has admitted that she faked cancer for cash and also a trip to Disneyland. NY Mag dubs her "The Hippie Grifter" and notes that after her "cancer admission" and charity set up, the money and gifts flowed in as sympathetic donors gave to the woman they believed had cancer.

Jessica Pressler muses: "Benefits ensued, donations rolled into her fake charity, "Change for a Cure," and she even got to go on several fab vacations, including one to Disney World with a "Newmarket skateboarding heartthrob," Rob Dyer. In short, cancer made Ashley incredibly popular."

Ashley says it all got out of hand. The Toronto Sun quotes the 23-year old woman as admitting: "What I did was wrong."

She explained: I was trying to be noticed. I was trying to get my family back together. I didn't want to feel like I'm nothing anymore. It went wrong, it spread like crazy, and then it seemed like the whole world knew."

Her father finally found out her alleged scheme and tattled on his daughter in an online blog.
